To celebrate the full opening of the new landmark DX Design Gallery at the Hong Kong Design Centre, the Hong Kong Design Centre held a DX Design Gallery celebration and introduction event on December 3. Leaders from the local and mainland design industries, as well as business delegations from mainland China and France, were invited to attend, creating a lively atmosphere. DX Design Gallery is managed by the Cultural and Creative Industry Development Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, responsible for strategy formulation, coordination, and supervision, and operated by the Hong Kong Design Centre.

Professor Yan Zhiming, Chairman of the Hong Kong Design Centre, said, “The ‘D’ of DX Design Gallery represents design, which also includes different disciplines. As for the ‘X’, it means multiply or crossover. The launch of DX Design Gallery is an important milestone for the Hong Kong Design Centre. We hope to promote communication and collaboration between various design and creative fields, as well as between them and the business community, through the DX Design Gallery. This will not only enhance the creative atmosphere in Hong Kong, but also promote the use of design thinking to solve problems and make decisions, doubling the power of design. The DX Design Gallery will create a space for everyone in society to immerse themselves in design and creativity. New designers and creative workers can also have opportunities to cultivate and showcase their talents through the DX Design Gallery

The main guest of honor at the event, Mr. Yang Runxiong, Director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, GBS, JP, said: “We hope that DX Design Gallery can become a creative center and tourist landmark in Hong Kong, injecting new vitality into the design and fashion industry in Hong Kong. The Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau released the “Development Blueprint for the Arts and Creative Industries” last week, setting a clear vision and direction for the future development of Hong Kong’s cultural, artistic and creative industries. We look forward to the Hong Kong Design Centre continuing to work together with the SAR government to promote the vigorous development and industrialization of the creative industry, further enhancing the influence of the Hong Kong design and fashion industries on the international stage, and consolidating Hong Kong’s role as a center for cultural and artistic exchange between China and foreign countries

A newly designed landmark located in Sham Shui Po
The DX Design Gallery, which gathers a design community and is open to the public, not only shoulders the important task of inspiring design inspiration, but also showcases and pays tribute to the traditional hotspot of clothing, textile wholesale and retail in Sham Shui Po District, as well as its rich and diverse cultural heritage. DX Design Studio actively injects momentum into the fashion and creative design industry, striving to achieve three major operational goals: firstly, to cultivate new design talents and fashion designers in Hong Kong; 2、 Make good use of the cultural heritage of Sham Shui Po and become a design and fashion hotspot in the district and even throughout Hong Kong; 3、 Further promote the tourism development of Sham Shui Po District.
The DX Design Gallery is located at 280 Tung Chau Street, Sham Shui Po. It covers a total of five floors from basement to fourth floor, with a total area of 3600 square meters. The fourth floor serves as the headquarters of the Hong Kong Design Centre, while the basement to second floor are open to the public, including The Square, The Fashion Pop, The Gallery, The Box, The Design Museum, The Annex, and The Steps. The third floor provides space for industry professionals, including The Lounge, The Barn, and The Fashion Spotlight. The diverse facilities in the DX Design Center are used to host various cross disciplinary design related activities such as exhibitions, workshops, and lectures, providing the public with more opportunities to experience and feel the power of design. At the same time, it promotes communication and resource sharing within the design and creative industries, nurturing more creativity and collaboration opportunities for the entire society.
The DX Design Gallery will be open to the public from December 4th, and a series of design related activities will be launched immediately, including the key project “Greater Bay Area Creative Week”, which will be held from December 3rd to 16th and last for two weeks. The exciting activities include exhibitions, product displays, fashion shows, design business matching activities, etc., aiming to enhance Hong Kong’s design strength and promote cooperation between cities in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. Along with the Design Business Week 2024 Summit, which officially opened on December 4th, and a series of design related events organized by the Hong Kong Design Centre throughout December, it will bring creativity and design atmosphere to Hong Kong.

About DX Design Studio
The DX Design Gallery, located in Sham Shui Po and operated by the Hong Kong Design Centre, is a place for nurturing new design talents and fashion designers to promote collaboration and exchange between creativity and the industry. DX Design Gallery provides a creative platform for community members and visitors to participate, showcasing the synergies between various design fields. The DX Design Gallery is equipped with exhibition space, event space, and retail area, allowing designers to gain practical experience from them. As a Hong Kong design center and a workstation for the design industry, we will actively promote fashion and other diverse design projects and activities. Through carefully designed areas including the front hall, pop-up hall, exhibition hall, experience hall, design museum, annex, exhibition booth, exhibition hall, materials hall, and fashion focus, we aim to create the DX Design Hall as a creative hub in Hong Kong.
